To become a licensed Florida Real Estate Sales Associate, you must complete the following six steps in order. Most students complete this process in approximately 2.5 months.
Meet Basic Eligibility
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Identity: Must have a U.S. Social Security number (standard ITINs are not accepted for licensure).
Complete the 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
Format: 100% online, fully narrated, and self-paced through Prolicense Florida.
Exam: Pass our school's end-of-course exam with a score of 70% or higher.
Validity: Your completion certificate is valid for 2 years for the state exam.
Background Check & Fingerprints
Action: Schedule an appoint online through Identigo
Note: Results take ~5 days to reach the DBPR.
Submit DBPR Application
Portal: Apply via the DBPR Online Services.
Fee: The current state application fee is $83.75.
Approval: You will receive an "Authorization to Test" email with your Candidate ID once approved.
Pass the State Exam
Provider: Scheduled through Pearson VUE (Fee: $36.75 per attempt).
Requirement: Score at least 75% (75 out of 100 questions).
Activate Your License
Sponsoring Broker: Your license remains "Inactive" until you affiliate with a Florida broker.
Process: Your broker activates you via their DBPR portal or form RE 11.
