Step-by-Step Licensing Roadmap
Follow these four steps to become a licensed CAM in Florida:
1. Education (Pre-Licensing Course)
Requirement: Complete a state-approved 16-hour CAM Pre-Licensing Course.
Validity: Your course completion certificate is valid for 12 months. You must pass the state exam within this one-year window; otherwise, you will be required to retake the course.
2. Electronic Fingerprinting
Requirement: You must submit electronic fingerprints for a background check to prove "Good Moral Character."
Timing: This can be done before or after submitting your application, but your application will not be approved without it.
3. State Application
Requirement: Submit the CAM license application to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) along with the required state fees.

4. State Examination
