To obtain a Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) license, you must complete the state-mandated 16-hour education and pass the state examination. Most students complete this entire process within 2 to 4 months.
Meet Basic Eligibility
Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
Character: Must be of "good moral character" as determined by the Florida DBPR.
Identity: A U.S. Social Security number is required for the application.
Complete the 16-Hour CAM Pre-Licensing Course
Education: Satisfactorily complete 16 hours of approved education through Prolicense Florida.
Validity: Your Course Completion Certificate is valid for one (1) year. You must pass the state exam before this certificate expires.
Background Check & Fingerprints
Action: Schedule an appoint online through Identigo
Validity: CAM fingerprint records are typically only valid for 90 days for the initial background check—do not delay your application after printing.
Submit Your Application to the DBPR
Portal: Apply via the DBPR Online Services portal.
Fee: The state application fee is currently $205.50.
Requirement: You must upload your 16-hour completion certificate as part of your application.
Schedule & Pass the State Exam
Approval: Once approved, you will receive an "Authorization to Test" and a Candidate ID
Provider: Scheduled through Pearson VUE
Exam: 100 multiple-choice questions with a 3-hour time limit.
Passing Score: You must score at least 75%.
Fee: The exam fee is $49.50.
