Every newly licensed Florida Real Estate Broker must complete 60 hours of post-licensing education before their first renewal deadline to prevent their license from becoming Null and Void. This requirement applies to both Broker Associates and Qualifying Brokers. There is no grace period for this requirement; however, a "revert to sales associate" option exists for those who cannot finish the 60 hours in time.
The 60-Hour Course Breakdown
The curriculum is typically split into two 30-hour modules which can be purchased as a bundle:
Real Estate Brokerage Management (30 Hours): Covers office operations, escrow management, and risk supervision.
Real Estate Investment (30 Hours): Covers advanced valuation, asset management, and investment analysis.
Mandatory Deadlines & Passing Scores
First Renewal: Your deadline is either March 31st or September 30th (18–24 months after licensure). Check your license for the specific date.
Passing Score: You must score a 75% or higher on the end-of-course exam.
No State Exam: You only need to pass the school’s final exam. Prolicense Florida reports your hours directly to the DBPR.
Critical Warning: Null and Void Status
If you miss your deadline without completing the 60 hours:
Broker License is Canceled: You lose your broker status immediately.
No Late Renewal: You cannot simply pay a late fee to fix a post-licensing deficiency.
Restart Rule: You may be required to retake the 72-hour pre-licensing course and the state exam to become a broker again.
Emergency Option: Reverting to Sales Associate (RE 15)
If you realize you will not finish the 60-hour course before your deadline, you can save your ability to practice real estate by "downgrading":
The Process: Submit DBPR Form RE 15 to revert your status from Broker to Sales Associate.
Timing: This request must be made after the license expires but within a specific window, and it requires completion of 14 hours of CE.
Benefit: This prevents your professional standing from becoming "Null and Void," allowing you to remain a Sales Associate while you prepare to retake the Broker track later.
