The Board Member Continuing Education (CE) course is a mandatory annual requirement for existing directors of Florida Condominiums and Homeowners' Associations (HOAs). Unlike the initial certification (which is taken once upon election), these courses must be completed every year to ensure directors remain compliant with changing state laws.
Why is Annual Education Required?
Recent legislative updates (specifically HB 1021 for Condos and HB 1203 for HOAs) introduced stricter education mandates to improve governance. The purpose of these annual courses is to update directors on:
New Legislation: Recent changes to Florida Statutes (Ch. 718, 719, and 720).
Compliance: Updated rules regarding fines, reserves, and transparency.
Operations: Best practices for financial reporting and disaster planning.
Specific Annual Requirements
